Osun PDP leadership: Nobody is above the law - Barr. Wale Ojo

The acting chairman of the People's Democratic Party in Osun State, Barrister Wale Ojo has said nobody is above the law under the supreme constitution of Nigeria.
This was contained in a statement titled, “Osun PDP leadership tussle: Nobody is above the law in PDP,” signed by the chairman on Friday.

Ojo's statement was in response to yesterday's appointment of Mr Sunday Bisi as the acting chairman of the party in the state after Ojo's appointment was validated by a High Court sitting in Ife on Wednesday.

Ojo said it is on the record that the PDP is a people's party where the democratic tenet is rooted and law reigns supreme. "Within and outside this reality, nobody is above the law. The fact that courts of competent jurisdiction had invalidated some decisions of critical institutions that were not in good fate in the past should send a signal to all those who thrive on illegality and always stand logic on the head." He added.

He also noted, "our teeming members are law-abiding and should remain calm. The constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria is supreme against any law of the land. So, we are not rattled."

He assured, "the constitution of PDP is also supreme and shall have binding effects on all organs of the party. In truth, no organ of our party has a monopoly of finality"

"In due course, adequate response will be provided and advanced as to the purported letter from the National headquarter of our party recognizing the Publicity Secretary of our party as Acting Chairman of the party, after consultation with critical stakeholders.

"We are happy that the NWC has started executing the judgment of Osun State High Court, delivered by Dr AA Aderibigbe, but it should also be noted that judgment can not be executed in part. The decision of  NWC can not override the decision of the court of competent jurisdiction.

Signed,
Barr. Wale Ojo,
Acting Chairman Osun PDP.
