Hon. Sam Oyus Meets Market Men and Women: Promises them Soft Loans to Boost Osun Economy.
Osogbo, January 23, 2026.
Hon. Samuel Olayinka Oyedotun popularly called Sam Oyus who is the incumbent Chairman of Osun State Water Corporation has extended his hands of love and fellowship to the Market Men and Women, the Olojas, in Osun East Senatorial District.
Sam Oyus at a meeting in Modakeke in Wednesday January 21, 2026 during a stakeholders meeting with the market operators promised to launch a soft loan program with the market women with a view at ensuring easy access to funds for them.
During the parley, Sam Oyus expressed his profound appreciation and personal recognition of their efforts and supports by the Osun Traders Organization for their loyal support for Governor Ademola Adeleke (Imole).
He acknowledged traders as the backbone of the economy and a key force in community development.
On the needed Support for Imole’s Government, Sam Oyus reaffirmed his commitment to supporting Imole’s administration and ensuring the government’s policies reflect in the lives of market men and women.
He emphasized continuity of good governance, grassroots development, and people-first leadership which is one of the major cardinal points of this administration.
In appreciation of the unalloyed supports by the traders organizations in Osun State Sam Oyus said he will in no distant future ensure the Launch of “No-Interest Traders Support Fund.”
Sam Oyus announced the plan to set up a Traders Support Fund where traders can access loans with ZERO interest.
The fund is expected to help traders expand their businesses, restock goods, and stabilize their income without financial pressure of paying back with cut-throat interest as being practiced by commercial banks in the country today.
In addition to the traders support is an Empowerment Over Handouts which he stated clearly: “This is not a one-time gift—this is an empowerment system.”
The goal is growth, sustainability, and financial stability for traders, however the sustainability will depend on how sincere the traders can manage it so that it will run continuously, they should not see the scheme as another kind of National cake but their own pet project which they should guard jealously and keep growing.
Sam Oyus sounded a note of warning on transparent and fair access to the fund by all and sundry. According to him "the fund will be structured with proper rules to ensure:
(1) Fair distribution;
(2) Accountability;
(3) Easy access for genuine traders; and
(4) Payback plan that is trader-friendly.
According to Sam Oyus, the scheme will take cognizance of Partnership With Traders’ Leadership in its structural arrangement as a responsible body that will guarantee security of the money. Sam Oyus promised to work directly with the traders’ executives and market leaders for smooth implementation.
Traders’ leaders will help with verification, coordination, and monitoring of funds and how it will be paid back for others to benefit from the scheme.
Objectives of the scheme: it was also clearly stated that the scheme will focus on the Economic Growth Agenda which is aimed at supporting traders means: stronger markets, more jobs, reduced poverty, improved household income and economic freedom for individuals.
He positioned it as part of building a strong Osun economy.
During the meeting opportunities were given to the audience for Listening & Feedback Session
during which they engaged the traders to hear their concerns—such as:
high cost of goods,
market infrastructure,
security, transportation,
access to finance, and other hazards being faced by traders. He therefore assured them that their voices will guide future action.
In their response, the leaders of the Trades Organization promised to ensure that their members stand solidly behind the re-election of His Excellency, Senator Ademola Adeleke, especially that they are enjoying market liberalization in Osun State since his coming to power in 2022 which was missing in the state during the past administration era in the state.
The spokespersons of the traders organization reaffirmed their commitment at ensuring that the good governance being enjoyed in Osun State continues unbroken for many years to come.
