The Chairman of the Osun State Water Corporation, Hon. Samuel Olayinka Oyedotun, has admonished the former Governor of Osun State, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, to desist from allegedly weaponizing the name of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whom he reportedly claims as a relation, to create political logjam and hardship in Osun State.

Hon. Oyedotun, popularly known as Sam Oyus, made this assertion shortly after a press conference addressed by the Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke, earlier today.

Speaking in a brief interview with journalists, Sam Oyus described the alleged actions of the former governor as uncivilized, barbaric, criminal, and unbecoming of a former helmsman, particularly for allegedly taking delight in actions that deprive grassroots citizens of their legitimate means of daily livelihood.

According to him, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola has been accused of influencing actions through the Attorney General of the Federation, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, allegedly ensuring that the APC “Yes/No” chairmen and councillors failed to comply with valid court rulings from the Federal High Court up to the Supreme Court.

Sam Oyus further alleged that both the Attorney General of the Federation and the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Olayemi Cardoso failed to act in good faith by allegedly listening to what he termed “the President’s cousin,” who reportedly presented unverified and misleading memos aimed at diverting Local Government funds meant for grassroots administration in Osun State.

He also criticized United Bank for Africa (UBA) for allegedly making itself available for what he described as criminal acts, including the seizure of funds and the opening of accounts for individuals without legal authority to domicile government funds. He called on the top management of UBA to uphold professionalism and avoid actions capable of denting its reputation as an international financial institution with a presence in Europe and America.

Hon. Oyedotun therefore appealed to well-meaning Nigerians and corporate bodies to prevail on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene urgently, stressing that the alleged actions of Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, carried out in the President’s name, risk tarnishing the image of the President in the comity of world leaders.

He urged the President to immediately reverse what he described as obnoxious and illegal actions allegedly being perpetrated by the former governor and his associates in Osun State, and to ensure that all seized funds are returned to the appropriate authorities recognized by law and the Constitution not impostors allegedly claiming backing from federal Government.

Sam Oyus emphasized that the continued seizure of these funds since February 2025 has gravely affected the lives and livelihoods of innocent Osun people.
