Just In: Ife North Traditional Rulers Endorse Adeleke For Second Term.

•Praise his widespread developmental initiatives

•Sunday Bisi, Deputy Speaker Urge Focus On People’s Needs

Osogbo, 17 January, 2025

Traditional rulers in Ife North Local Government Area of Osun State, on Thursday endorsed Governor Ademola Adeleke for a second term.

The Alakinlalu of Akinlalu, Oba Israel Oluwabusola Idowu Oloyede (Aborisade II), who spoke on behalf of all the traditional rulers, noted that the Governor had far exceeded the expectations of the people of Osun State, particularly in Ife North, and has brought tangible progress to every corner of the local government.

The endorsement, issued on Thursday, 16th January 2025, was contained in a statement released at the palace of the monarch during the flag-off of the Ife North Local Government campaign rally.

While receiving the Deputy Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Akinyode Oyewusi, Hon. Moji Omisore, SA Cabinet, RAAMP, Oba Oloyede commended Governor Adeleke for his outstanding contributions to the development of Osun State, particularly in Ife North.

The monarch specifically expressed gratitude for the long-awaited construction of the Akinlalu Road from the junction to Akinlalu town, a project that had been neglected for over 44 years. He also praised the rehabilitation of critical infrastructure, such as the Magistrate Court Junction-Akinrinade Junction with a spur to Itamerin Road, Yakoyo. The renovation of key schools, such as; the LA Secondary School in Okooko, Ipetumodu, CAC Grammar School Isale Ola, CAC Edunabon and the construction of a new block of classrooms at C&S Grammar School, further showcases the Governor's commitment to education.

The monarch also highlighted the Governor’s significant strides in healthcare, with the renovation of Primary Healthcare Centres in Ipetumodu, Edunabon, Akinlalu, Yakooyo, Oyere and Famia. These developments complement the ongoing construction of the Edunabon-Tonkere road and bridge, a project that had been stalled for over 25 years, alongside the ongoing rehabilitation of Tonkere Road.

The Governor's efforts to improve water access across Ife North were also lauded, with the provision of motorized boreholes across all ten wards. Additionally, the rehabilitation of schools, such as the block of classrooms at CAC Commercial Grammar School in Isale-Ola, Ipetumodu, and Christ Church Primary School in Oyere Aborisade, are direct results of Governor Adeleke's dedication to the people's welfare.

“On behalf of all the traditional rulers in Ife North, I want to sincerely thank and appreciate our working Governor, Ademola Adeleke, for prioritizing the development of our local government,” the Kabiyesi said.

The monarch also praised Rt. Hon. Oyewusi, describing him as a “good son” who has brought dignity to his reign and kingdom by fulfilling all his electoral promises.

“You have always kept your promises, bringing dignity to my reign as the King,” Oba Oloyede added.

The traditional leaders who endorsed Gov. Ademola Adeleke included the Apetumodu of Ipetumodu, Salu of Edunabon, Olulamokun of Yakooyo, Alasipa of Asipa, Alakinlalu of Akinlalu, Oloyere of Oyere, Oloku of Okuomoni, Oluwaro of Iwaro, and Olu of Eyentanle.

In his response, Rt. Hon. Oyewusi expressed his gratitude for the royal support and kind words, emphasizing the significant developments under Governor Adeleke's leadership, including the construction of the Akinlalu road and the renovation of the Akinlalu Primary Health Care Centre.

“These developments are just some of the strides we have seen under Governor Adeleke's leadership. We seek your continued blessings for our success, especially in the upcoming local government elections and Governor Adeleke’s re-election in 2026,” he stated.

The Deputy Speaker further appealed for the support of Oba Oloyede and his chiefs for the PDP's Chairmanship and Councillorship candidates in Ife North for the February 22, 2025 Local Government Election, stressing the need to build on the positive changes Governor Adeleke has initiated.

“Kabiyesi, with me here today are your sons, the Chairmanship candidate of PDP in Ife North for the Osun State Local Government election, Hon. Michael Akande, his deputy, Kola Adetunji, and all the ten councilorship candidates: Hon. Akindele Ogundare, Debo Odesola, Ojetola Sunday, Fatai Tijani, Tajudeen Ajitena, Julius Odedoyin, Odeyemi Oluwole, Akinloye Kolade, Shadrack Ojeremi, Amusan Adekunle. I am humbly seeking your support for their emergence at the poll.”

In addition, Rt. Hon. Oyewusi assured the people of Moro that works would commence on the Rara road, schools, and health centre in the community as part of the 2025 budget. He also highlighted that all other projects awaiting government approval would be duly attended to this year, with particular emphasis on the Akinola to Oduduwa University road, Central Mosque to Tollgate, and Koso to Isale Ola, among others, across the ten wards.

Addressing the gathering at the Ipetumodu Market Square, the venue of the Ife North Local Government campaign flag-off, the State Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Sunday Bisi, supported by Osun East Senatorial Leader, Hon. Akin Famuyide (Jaguu), Osun West Senatorial Leader, Hon. Tunde Abesin, and all members of the state working committee, charged the chairmanship candidate, Hon. Mike Akande, and all 10 councilorship candidates to continue the developmental strides of Governor Adeleke across the ten wards of Ife North. He urged the candidates to always prioritize the welfare of the people and ensure that their leadership remains people-centered and community-oriented.

“See the tasks ahead of you as a call to serve your people. Like Gov. Ademola Adeleke, be people-focused and bring succor to those in need,” Hon. Sunday Bisi said.

Funsho Babarinde, Hon. Yemi Adepoju, Hon. Yomi Ojosegun, Hon. Anu Olusegun, Hon. Kehinde Samuel, Hon. George Abodunwa, Hon. Femi Ayedun, Hon. Olayiwola Ibrahim, Hon. Yinka Odetoye, Hon. Appreciating all who graced the flag-off, the PDP Chairman of Ife North, Hon. Adesoye Oyewole, thanked his executives, associations, and all participants for their active involvement in the event. He urged them to take the campaign to every doorstep, affirming the prosperity that lies ahead for the local government under PDP leadership.
