SENATOR AKOGUN LERE OYEWUMI WARNS THE PUBLIC AGAINST SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNT CLONING BY FRAUDSTERS.

Osogbo, 11th January, 2025.

The Deputy Senate Minority Leader, Senator Lere Oyewumi has raised alarm about a sinister group of fraudulent Nigerians who have cloned many of his social media handles with intent to defraud the unsuspecting public via a non-existent empowerment by asking them to pay various sums of money before being qualified for such empowerment.
Senator Oyewumi through his media team however denied such request for money and warned the public to disregard such frivolities.

In a well drafted detailed message, Senator Oyewumi wrote "It has come to our attention that some criminal elements are impersonating the Deputy Minority Leader of the Senate, Senator Lere Oyewumi, by using his picture and name on Instagram, Facebook, and other social media platforms to request money under the guise of job facilitation, empowerment and many other deceptive unverified claims.
"We categorically state that Senator Lere Oyewumi does not request money from anyone for any purpose, including job facilitation. This is a scam designed to defraud unsuspecting Nigerians."

"The Senator has never conducted business or made financial requests via social media platforms. These fraudulent acts are the work of criminals whose sole aim is to swindle people."
"Please beware and do not engage with anyone claiming to act on behalf of Senator Lere Oyewumi for business or financial dealings on social media."
"Relevant security agencies and financial fraud authorities have been notified to track, apprehend, and prosecute those involved in this fraudulent scheme."
