OSSIEC Restricts Election Access to Authorized Media and Observers

Osogbo, February 20, 2025.

Osogbo, February 20, 2025 – The Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) has announced strict access regulations for media and observer teams ahead of the local government elections scheduled for Saturday, February 22, 2025.

According to a statement issued by OSSIEC’s Information Officer, Sadiat Isiaka, only media organizations and observer teams duly authorized by the Commission will be granted access to polling units, wards, local government areas, and the Central Collation Centre during the election. Such authorized personnel must bear official tags and jackets provided by the Commission .

OSSIEC warned that any unauthorized media or observer team without an authorization letter, official jacket, and tag from the Commission would be treated as an impostor and handed over to security agencies.

" ANNOUNCEMENT:

The Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) wishes to inform the general public that only media organisations and observer teams duly authorized by the Commission, bearing the official tags and jackets provided by the Commission for the purpose of the election, will be allowed access to the polling units, wards, local government areas of the State, and the Central Collation Centre during the election scheduled for Saturday, 22nd February 2025.

Any unauthorized media or observer team without an authorization letter, the official jackets, and tags of the Commission will be treated as an impostor and will be handed over to security agents.
