The Attack on Ilesa West PDP Gathering: IBK Sues for Peace, Calls on Nigerian Police to Arrest Omowaye and Tobi Famurewa for Investigation.
Ilesa, February 17, 2025
It is deeply concerning that a peaceful gathering of PDP members in Ilesa West was violently disrupted. Since when has it become a crime for law-abiding citizens to assemble peacefully?
The attack, allegedly led by Remi Omowaye and Tobi Famurewa, marked a tragic turn in our democratic process. These individuals, claiming to have the backing of former Governor Gboyega Oyetola, appear determined to forcefully take over the government of Osun State. This blatant act of aggression cannot go unpunished. I call on the Nigerian Police to arrest and investigate them to ensure justice is served.
In line with the directives of our amiable Governor, His Excellency, Asiwaju Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, I urge all PDP members in Ilesa West to refrain from visiting the Local Government Secretariat for now, as we prioritize safety and order.
I commend the uncompromising dedication of our members in safeguarding this administration and defending democracy from those who seek to destabilize our peaceful state. Your commitment is the reason PDP in Ilesa West and Osun State continues to grow stronger. I deeply appreciate your support and solidarity.
Furthermore, I extend my heartfelt sympathy to the victims of this violent attack. Alongside other leaders in Ilesa West, I assure them of my full support at ensuring that they receive proper medical care and swift recovery.
Looking ahead, I encourage all PDP members to intensify their preparations for the forthcoming local government elections scheduled for Saturday, February 22, 2025. Let us remain committed to grassroots mobilization and continue our individual campaign efforts while awaiting further directives from our party leaders at the State level.
Thank you all for your dedication. May God continue to bless and protect us.
Signed:
Hon. Isola Ibukun Fadipe (IBK)
Osun State SUBEB Chairman.
