Osun Accord Congratulates Governor Adeleke On Appointment As Tinubu Campaign Coordinator, Calls For Understanding

The Osun State Chapter of the Accord has congratulated the Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, on his appointment as the Osun State Coordinator of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Campaign Organisation, describing the assignment as a call to service that requires political maturity, mutual understanding and a strong commitment to the broader interests of the good people of Osun State and the nation at large.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the State Chairman of the party, Pastor Victor Babalola Akande, said the appointment is in line with the confidence reposed in Governor Adeleke's capacity to mobilise people across political and social divides, drawing from his longstanding goodwill, people-friendly disposition and the trust he has earned among citizens over the years.

The Osun Accord Chairman acknowledged that the development may generate differing opinions among party members and residents of the state, given the distinct political platforms of the Governor and the President. He, however, urged the people of Osun to approach the development with understanding, stressing that the Governor's new responsibility should be viewed within the context of political engagement, national interest and the need to sustain constructive relationships across party lines.

According to him, Governor Adeleke's acceptance of this strategic responsibility does not diminish his identity as a leader of the Accord or the party's commitment to its political ideals. Rather, it presents an opportunity to demonstrate that political differences need not foreclose dialogue, cooperation and the pursuit of shared national objectives.

Pastor Akande further noted that President Tinubu's bid for a second term carries a peculiar significance for Osun State, considering his Yoruba heritage and ancestral ties to the state. He appealed to the people to appreciate the historical and political dimensions of the assignment while recognising that the Governor must continue to discharge his responsibilities to the people of Osun with the same dedication, openness and commitment to their welfare.

The party chairman emphasised that the Accord remains firmly committed to its political identity and electoral aspirations, including the success of its candidates in the 2027 general elections. He therefore called on members and supporters of the party to remain united, politically active and focused, while working towards an overwhelming victory for President Tinubu and all National and State Assembly candidates of the Accord at the polls.

Pastor Akande concluded by expressing confidence in Governor Adeleke's ability to navigate the demands of his new assignment without losing sight of his primary responsibility to the people of Osun State, while assuring the Governor of the party's support and appealing to residents to give the development the understanding and maturity it deserves.
